WHICH CAME FIRST, THE CHANGE OR THE CHANGE MANAGER?

Change tends to just happen. If you are very forward thinking when planning your very first IT installation (and lucky enough to be there), you might consider the likelihood of future change and create the role of change manager from the beginning. In reality, this is unlikely to have happened, not least because it costs money to create a role in anticipation of a future need and the practical truth is that there are usually enough things to do with resources today without spending them on tomorrow.
