If communication is done properly, colleagues are clear about the need for change, what is required to make the project successful, and how it is progressing. If it is done poorly, they are unclear about how the organization (and they themselves) will benefit from the project, what is needed from them for the project to be successful, and how it is doing. I have never seen a project succeed without strong communications.
