Depression is no laughing matter. Unfortunately, Eeyore’s ‘little black rain cloud’, which we met in Chapter 3, hangs over many people today, often with distressing and debilitating results. Of course we all have ‘down days’ and times of ‘low mood’, when we feel sad or miserable without knowing exactly why. We say we’re ‘fed up’ when we have too much to do, or that we’re ‘cheesed off’ or lethargic when we’re bored. Dealing with the ups and downs of our moods is clearly something we all have to manage on a daily basis.
