Our Demands

In addition to the approaches/strategies for widening women’s access to participatory and grievance redressal opportunities suggested in the last section, we place below our major demands:

1. Establishment of statutory, autonomous commissions at the Centre and the States as recommended by the Committee on the Status of Women in India (CSWI).We must clarify however that our recommendation is linked to the broad-based representative composition of these bodies recommended by the CSWI, with panels of names suggested by leading national women’s organisations, trade unions, legislative and legal bodies, and employers (from both public and private sectors) experts in law, health, education, research, ...
