Dear Madam Chairperson and Members of the Commission.
We are happy that you have called this meeting of members of the CSWI and national women’s organisations to recall the initial efforts to set up this Commission. The first Commission under the National Commission of Women Act 1990 was set up in January 1992 so it is seven years of experience which we can look to in assessing how far the basic aims which had informed our efforts to get such a Commission established in the first place have been fulfilled. It is not our purpose to review the work of the Commission in this regard but only to reiterate the issues involved. ...
