Chapter 23Conclusion

When I leave Dufner’s residence, I am not in the mood to take Humphrey Go-BART from the campus back to the Berkeley BART station. The evening is far too beautiful, and it has been rare this year to have had a free evening. So I head up Strawberry Canyon, above the campus, above Berkeley, above the Bay, to the piazza in front of the Lawrence Hall of Science, perched on top of the Berkeley hills, offering one of the most splendid, sweeping views of the Bay Area. On an evening this clear, I can watch the sun set out beyond the Golden Gate Bridge, far ahead of me, and see fifty miles south to Santa Clara on my left.
