Note: Just as I was completing this book, Adobe bought Cool Edit Pro and changed the name to Adobe Audition. No changes of any major significance were made to the software version that is currently available, so what follows is equally applicable to the final version of Cool Edit Pro and the first version of Adobe Audition.
