An Overview of the DMAIC Framework
The process improvement framework of Six Sigma is called DMAIC (pronounced duh-may-ick) and is an acronym for define, measure, analyze, improve, and control. The DMAIC framework is a very simple yet effective roadmap to moving an organization or department within a company to higher levels of performance. The five steps of DMAIC should be worked in a circular fashion, with an underlying assumption that the project team will frequently compare the latest performance of a process against the original performance level on a numeric basis.
