Disaster Planning and Recovery
Disasters, which I define as any event that materially impairs an organization's ability to operate, can affect both vendors and customers.
Disasters can arise from either natural or man-made causes, and from intentional and unintentional conduct. Inherent in the concept of a disaster is that it is unexpected and not always preventable. However, if you do not engage in sufficient planning for catastrophic events, your company may experience a second disaster in the form of unnecessary continuing disruption after the event.
