Securing devices in today’s networks is not an option. Internet and network threats can pose serious threats to a company’s infrastructure that can cause tens of thousands of dollars or impact critical services. As such, it is paramount that network administrators take the proper steps to harden and secure access to network devices.

This section covers the fundamentals for securing Cisco network devices. This includes common threats facing network devices, the need to secure ports, how to monitor and secure unused services, securely connecting to Cisco devices, and the importance of a time server.
