Chapter 5. UCS Connectivity in the LAN and SAN
This chapter describes the LAN and SAN connectivity northbound from the UCS 6100 and southbound to the servers. We examine the VLAN and VSAN configuration model in UCS, and how vNICs and vHBAs in-service profiles configure server-bound network and SAN traffic, respectively.
UCS Connectivity
First we examine both the physical connectivity of the data and management planes within UCS and the logical configuration of LAN and SAN connectivity within UCS and northbound of UCS.
Fabric Interconnect
The fabric interconnect provides uplink connectivity (from the UCS 6100 to one or more LAN and SAN switches) and server connectivity (from the UCS 6100 to the chassis).
