Chapter 10. Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) over Frame Relay
The Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) specifies a standard method for transporting different network layer or routed protocols, such as IP, IPX, and SNA, across a physical point-to-point link. This chapter highlights the Cisco PPP over Frame Relay feature, a Cisco Frame Relay solution that allows an end-to-end PPP session to be established over a Frame Relay permanent virtual circuit (PVC). IP traffic can be transported over the PPP link using RFC 1973 compliant Frame Relay framing and encapsulation specifications.
