Introduction
Storage may not be the first thought that comes to mind when you hear the term cloud operations, but storage is a critical component of any infrastructure. Application user experience can be drastically influenced by the availability and performance of the storage systems needed to persist and retrieve data. A common challenge that storage administrators face is how to manage a very heterogeneous set of infrastructures. Storage is often provisioned on a need or project basis and can therefore take on many different forms—such as hyperconverged, traditional block and file, or object based—and can be supplied from many different vendors.
