Conventions used in this book

I have used the following formatting conventions in this book:

  • Italic is used for router commands (commands that are typed at the router command prompt, whether in privileged mode or not), as well as for emphasis and the first use of technical terms.

  • Constant width is used for router configurations (configuration commands that are either typed in while in configuration mode or read in from files loaded over the network). It is also used for strings and keywords that are part of configuration commands.

  • Constant width italic is used for replaceable text.

  • Constant width bold is used for user input.
