This chapter covers many of the basic questions that ISPs ask when they are first faced with setting up routers for their Internet business. Although documentation shipped with any item of equipment provides a very comprehensive description of setup processes, more experienced ISPs usually have developed a methodology for how new hardware is deployed on a living backbone. Often the vendor’s well-intentioned startup process for new users becomes more of a hindrance or inconvenience in these situations.
