It’s amusing to think how little time it has taken us to go from being excited that wireless was available in some places to demanding that it be everywhere in our work environment. Now, even when you visit another company, you pretty much expect to obtain guest access to that person’s network so that you can connect back to your office, e-mail, and other communication tools and information.
Guest access is pretty easy to figure out. The tricky part is making it simple enough that any visitor can connect without help from your IT staff. Trust us—the day one of your IT staffers is caught hanging out in the lobby helping the salesmen who are waiting around to get connected, the deal is off.
