Network Snapshots
One of the worst calls you can receive after a change window is from the network operating center (NOC) team because they received alerts that there are issues in the network. Regardless of a network change’s risk, any change to the network has a chance to cause catastrophic failure. Some failures are due to poor preparation, such as not simulating the change in a lab environment; some may be innocent failures, such as triggering an unknown software bug. Wouldn’t it be great if there was an “easy button” for capturing what changed in the network during a change window, instead of anxiously waiting for a phone call after the window hoping you didn’t break anything?
