Diagnostic Tools
There are a great many tools available within the Cisco IOS that enable you to troubleshoot a multicast enabled router and its connections to other multicast enabled routers. Many of them are close cousins to some of the commands you have already encountered in this book. Some are new and specific to multicast troubleshooting. Table 7.4 shows a list of a few of these commands and their purpose.

| mstat <source IP> | Display statistics on multicast traffic forwarding and packet loss |
| mtrace <destination IP> | Multicast Traceroute. Display the path taken from the router to the given destination. |
