SYSLOG
Syslog enables the routers to send or log messages to a specified host elsewhere on your network. These messages can be informational in nature or actual errors that would normally be seen on the system console of your network device. Syslog files give Network Engineers a place to look when a network event has occurred and a postmortem investigation is required to determine the cause of the failure. It also gives Network Operators much needed information that will help prevent network outages. Warning signs of upcoming device failures are often sent to the syslog before the event occurs.
