Welcome to the second edition of Cisco Router Configuration & Troubleshooting, Second Edition. Through the course of reading this book, it is my hope that you will gain some insight into how to design and maintain an IP network and why some networks that you may have worked on in the past were built the way they were.
This edition builds upon the first by updating the product information as well as introducing many new commands that Cisco has added to its latest revision of IOS, 12.0. This second edition also adds information for virtual LANs, virtual private networks, and multicast. The OSPF portion of Chapter 6 has been made much more robust.
