COLORED PENCIL seemed a good choice for the demonstrations in this sketchbook. It’s a very controllable medium, excellent for fine lines. It’s also the easiest medium for practice or to carry with you in a museum or when sketching outdoors: no water, no paper towels, and no mess. However, if you prefer to work in watercolor, the same lessons and color palettes discussed on these pages will apply.
PAPER
This book is designed for drawing directly on the pages, but, of course, you can also work in your own sketchbook or on individual sheets of paper. Choose your paper carefully. I recommend hot-pressed, which is very smooth and ideal for fine detail.
