MANY PHOTOGRAPHERS new to macro photography often underestimate the significance of the background behind the subject and how it contributes to the overall aesthetics of the photograph; this usually becomes apparent when the photographs are analysed on screen. Blades of grass and other intruding bits of vegetation that were not apparent in the viewfinder suddenly appear from nowhere.
