PHOTOGRAPHING any subject, especially when using slower shutter speeds requires meticulous attention to technique even if the camera is mounted on a tripod. Depressing the shutter button carefully with your finger will impart a certain amount of movement and therefore affect sharpness and degrade the quality of the image. When shooting close-ups and working at higher magnifications, it is even more critical since any movement, even if minimal, will be magnified and clearly evident when your photograph is enlarged.
