Chapter 6. Installation

Introduction

Installation carries a different definition than moves, adds, and changes (MACs) and is therefore presented and discussed separately. Installation is defined in closed loop lifecycle planning as the deployment of net new devices added to the PC fleet. A MAC derives from the existing installed base and has its own set of economics and deliverables. MACs are discussed in the next chapter.

Installation takes the device after it has been staged and integrated and deploys the device to the end users work space. Installation can be represented by a statement of work defining the actual tasks to be performed, including the following:

• Coordinating with staging and integration

• Coordinating with end users
