Once we have made our measurements, we need to transmit the observations to the monitoring system for processing. In other words, our components will be taking measures and storing them locally. These measurements need to be collected from all the different locations and consolidated in the monitoring system for reporting and alerting. This process of collection is referred to as telemetry.
