An accomplished senior executive with international experience, Annie had been asked to lead the development of a promising invention: going through an extensive testing phase, obtaining the necessary compliance authorizations, and finally bringing the product to market. Most top executives in her organization had initially neither realized the great business potential in this invention nor believed it would pass the arduous testing phase.
