Mentor as a Role Model, Broker, Advocate, and Career Counselor

In Chapter9 You Saw how mentoring a staff member can be used to boost the performance of your best performers or help a new hire with lots of ability to hit the ground running. Much of this stems from coaching. This chapter offers more insights into how to keep top performers at their current levels. But let’s look first at the other roles of a mentor: role model, broker, advocate, and career counselor. In fact, let’s start with you as a role model for your mentee, whether a subordinate, a staff member, or individual with lots of potential you want to help.
