The practice of doing a formal performance review is common in many organizations regardless if they’re in the private, public or nonprofit sectors. In terms of frequency, managers generally write reviews on an annual basis. Occasionally, some organizations carry out performance evaluations quarterly or every six months.
The review is the designated time when employees are told how they’re performing. But a lot happens during the 12 months between reviews. How do managers who function as coaches monitor progress and let employees know how they are performing between reviews?
