In an ideal world, you sit down with your client for a prearranged coaching session that lasts a few hours in a quiet space with no interruptions. Yet the need for a coaching conversation may happen in a hurried moment in a busy place – or even over the phone. When your client asks, ‘Can I have a quick word?’, how do you respond?

When speedy coaching is required, coaching models or structures that you can pull out of your mental repertoire are helpful. And if you're new to coaching, having some easily remembered models is invaluable; you can build your confidence and coach someone without having to refer to notes. These models give you some quick wins – that is, fast results for the client.

In this chapter, you discover two NLP frameworks created by NLP expert Robert Dilts that lend themselves to exploring issues. You can apply the SCORE and Logical Levels models quickly in a coaching context, using them both conversationally or in greater depth while exploring issues during a longer session.
