Sitting in Dr. Veronica Scott’s office, Dave held Dee’s hand and hoped she didn’t feel him flinch as Dr. Scott delivered the news.
“Unfortunately, the results of the biopsy were positive—we did find a malignancy,” she said. Dave heard Dee gasp softly. The doctor quickly continued.
“The good news is that because of your regular breast checks, we’ve detected the cancer at a very early stage. The lymph nodes we removed were clear, which is what we were hoping for. What this means for you is that a lumpectomy and a few radiation treatments should be all that’s needed.”
