Chapter 4. What Are Collaborative Teams?

Collaborative leaders who understand their responsibilities as collaboration guardians for their teams apply facilitative guidance about how to create, promote, and sustain broad participation and decision-making among team members. So, as leaders do this, what are they ultimately trying to engender?

In this chapter, I want to answer these questions: what defines a team, how can a disparate group of individuals become a high-performance collaborative team, how can we identify groups of individuals who can most readily create a collaborative and productive team culture, and finally, what does that collaborative team look like once all the other team glue has set?
