4.1 Israeli Hebrew Nouns
Nouns in Israeli Hebrew have gender. Nouns can be divided into two main groups: animate nouns that take gender and number inflections and inanimate nouns that take only number inflections. Gender and number inflections in the noun are formed by way of suffixation. Number inflections in nouns usually correspond to their gender. Thus, nouns that are feminine take the feminine plural suffix, whereas nouns that are masculine take the masculine plural suffix. There are a few exceptions, though, as some feminine nouns may sometimes take a masculine plural suffix and vice versa. Examples of the standard feminine and masculine plural suffixes:
