14.1 Introduction

The Kodak Photo CD System creates compact discs of images by scanning and digitally encoding images from photographic media. Photo CD Discs can be used to produce video and hardcopy images on a variety of devices and media.

The Photo CD System is an example of hybrid color imaging, which combines photographic and electronic imaging technologies. Because hybrid systems may include many sources of input and multiple modes of output and display, the control of color in such systems can become quite complex.
