PUPPY

When drawing animals it is important to remember that you should not try to draw in every hair. It is better to look for areas of the fur that can be drawn in as a group. This puppy’s fur has been broken down into light, medium, and dark grays to suggest the shiny coat and the general shape of the head. After these areas have been blocked in, you can go back and draw in some detailed hairs here and there. Using negative space, or drawing behind the hairs, is another great way to make animals appear furry without turning them into brillo pads!
