MSMQ provides a simple programming interface to the world of email. After all, what's an email system if it isn't just a big message queuing network? MSMQ supplies both API routines and ActiveX components that make it easy to construct basic email services. The MSMQ Email interface does not support attachments, and it supplies limited interoperability. Microsoft presently supplies MSMQ services for Exchange Server and MAPI Client interaction. Other services, such as SMTP, might appear as time goes by. The two services provided by Microsoft have very different features.
