A COMPREHENSIVE LIBRARY OF BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES

This competency library is based on research on the structure of job performance. Table A.1 groups the competencies into categories reflecting broad dimensions of job performance. The actual competencies are presented in alphabetical order. In the interest of space, the competency definitions are limited to a few positive behavioral examples and do not include behavioral examples illustrating ineffective performance. It may be helpful to develop such additional “negative” anchors before using these competencies to support staffing or talent management decisions.
