The name BP can conjure up many images. It is a heritage brand for some, the cause of the devastation caused by the Deepwater Horizon crisis in the Gulf of Mexico, and at one time considered to be the greenest oil and gas company. In 2005, an accident at its Texas City facility in the United States made many think about how BP’s rise in the oil and gas industry might have come at the expense of safety and the well-being of its stakeholders (Cline, 2010).
