Defending too hard

Abstract

Passion, and the amount of effort we sink into our work, can lead us to defend our decisions beyond the point where it is politically or productively beneficial to do so. Pushing too hard to always win the argument may result in stakeholders finding a way to shut UX out of the conversation. Understanding where feedback comes from and expanding its implications allows for a more nuanced and holistic response. The patterns in this chapter help explore challenges in a more collaborative way so you can reach consensus, rather than impose it.
