The history of communication technologies can be examined from many perspectives: telling stories about the creators, discussing the impacts of the technologies, or analyzing competition among these technologies. Each chapter in this book provides a brief history of the technology discussed in that chapter, but it is also important to provide a “big picture” discussion that allowsyou to compare technologies.
