Abstract

Telephony is the general term describing electronic transmissions of voice and data by means of a handheld device. In contemporary terms, the primary instrument of telephony is the mobile phone, globally linking billions of people through distant exchanges of conversation and transmissions of text, video, audio, and graphics. Driving the current development of telephony is fifth generation (5G) wireless to be used for the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), live streaming, and other forms of communication and commerce.
