Physical layer design
Abstract
This chapter is focused on the design of the physical layer in communication systems for controlling cyber physical systems (CPSs). Modulations and coding are considered, which take the physical dynamics into consideration. Selection of a modulation scheme is made adaptive to the physical dynamics. Both point-to-point and distributed source coding methods in CPSs are discussed. For channel coding, various topics are covered, such as joint decoding and system state estimation and coding schemes especially designed for control. Finally, channel coding for generic interactive computing is analyzed.
