So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
21 Mixer signal processing
Two distinctly different mixing concepts are used in communications and these are based either on linear or nonlinear techniques. Generally the linear technique is restricted to audio and video programme production, while the nonlinear concept is very largely used for frequency changing.
21.1 Linear mixing
Many input signals sources are linearly added together to produce a composite output signal that ideally contains no intermodulation products. For example, a multi-track recorder can be used to record separate instrumental tracks. The mixer unit can then combine these to produce an orchestral effect.
