Every family has stories. Much of life is stories, a collection of stories. If you want to learn about what's under the ground, you can, so to speak, start digging and look for yourself. But none of us remembers our birth or even our first few years of life. We certainly can't remember what took place before we were born. We depend on stories from our parents and others to fill in our sense of where we came from. In turn, these stories shape how we think about where we are and where we are going.
