Enterprise architecture, as currently practiced, began when John Zachman published the article “A Framework for Information Systems Architecture” in 1987.¹ Since that time, the practice of systems development has changed significantly but enterprise architecture frameworks have not kept pace, and in many quarters enterprise architecture is perceived as a failure.
