Enterprise architecture, as currently practiced, began when John Zachman published the article “A Framework for Information Systems Architecture” in 1987.1 Since that time, the practice of systems development has changed significantly but enterprise architecture frameworks have not kept pace, and in many quarters enterprise architecture is perceived as a failure. In this book, I describe a new framework for enterprise architecture development, one that discards the previous focus on system implementation and concentrates on achieving the enterprise’s goals. ...
