Abstract:
This chapter presents a methodology for strength prediction of complex bolted joints in industrial CFRP structures. It begins with an analysis of the experimentally observed failure mechanisms at both structural and material levels. An advanced method for progressive failure analysis of composite bolted joints is then presented, together with a short literature review on the topic. Some comparisons between numerical predictions and some available experimental results are presented to validate the proposed strength prediction method at the coupon level.
