Effects of temperature on the response of composite bolted joints

Abstract:

This chapter considers the effects of temperature on a mechanical joint of composite materials under static loading. Following the presentation of the results of a literature survey, the effects of temperature on the mechanical response of mechanical pin and bolt joints are described including an experimental method specific to temperature effects, load-deformation curves and bearing strength. Damage (macroscopic surface damage and the evolution of microscopic damage) is explained in detail for both pin and bolt cases.
