Modelling short fibre polymer reinforcements for composites

Abstract:

The chapter is focused on fibre-reinforced thermoplastics. The fibre reinforcement improves their mechanical properties but the fibre orientation which results from the injection moulding process has a major influence. The chapter contains results of experimental observations of fibre length distribution, concentration and orientation for complex enough situations in order to describe problems encountered in real industrial processes.
