Because this book is an introductory book the terms defined in this glossary are not overly technical. While an engineer or color scientist may not appreciate this, I trust that the newcomer to visual effects will. The bolded words found within the definitions signify that they are also defined in this glossary.

2:3 pull-down—see 3:2 pull-down.

2D—abbreviation for “2-dimensional,” refers to manipulating only images—no 3D elements.

2k—shorthand for an image with a horizontal resolution of 2048 pixels.

3:2 pull-down—to spread 24 frames of film out to 30 frames of video by transferring the film frames to video fields ...
