Chapter 3. BIOS
This chapter covers the following subjects:
• Understanding BIOS, CMOS, and Firmware—This section explains the motherboard’s firmware, known as the BIOS. It also describes the relationship between the CMOS and the BIOS.
• Configuring the System BIOS—This section demonstrates how to access the BIOS and modify settings, for example, RAM, processor, and video settings.
• Power-on self-test (POST) and Error Reporting—This section describes the POST and audible and visible errors that the POST reports.
• BIOS Updates—In this section you learn how to upgrade the BIOS through a process known as flashing.
