Host Security

It has been said before in this chapter but is worth repeating: The entire network should be considered only as strong as the weakest host. Given that, you should focus on keeping all hosts current in terms of malware protection and baselining—all areas of which are covered in the following sections.

Antimalware

To keep all hosts safe from malware, there are a number of things you should implement at a minimum:

Install Antivirus Software Antivirus software, discussed in depth in Chapter 4, should be installed and definitions kept current on all hosts.
